Background

Our brains recall flavour when we taste something familiar. Food recall is a powerful, emotional and moving experience. More often that not, we tend to forget how much we enjoy a particular dish, be it in a restaurant or from a certain special occasion. Food souvenirs are often related to a place, or an accessory; the perishable nature of food makes it almost impossible to hold onto it tangibly, over long periods of time. Resin is a popular material used in the art and other creative industries. Freeze The Flavour brings food and resin together to make the seemingly impossible possible.

Freeze The Flavour

We partnered with REIN Design Studio to co-create Freeze The Flavour: Eat. Freeze. Repeat. During the two-hour workshop, participants learn the specific craft of working with resin. While working with resin, they sip on specially paired cocktails. Once familiar with the method of working with resin, we treat guests to an unusual, gorgeous and delicious designer dessert, plated live. On eating the dessert, we encourage guests to make their own associations; based on flavours and their personal perceptions or memories. Thereafter, they move back to the resin casting table. Here, they freeze the memory of the dessert eating experience using an array of leftover edible ingredients.

Freeze The Flavour is a mixed media experiential workshop. We work with F&B brands to raise awareness about their products. Let’s grab a (virtual) coffee and see what we can do for you. Contact us.
