Background
Our memories of a city are inextricably linked to the food we eat and how we interact with it. Exploring a city on foot is the best way to get to know it. Tasting the local, seasonal and popular food seals the deal. During the Architectural Food Tours experience, we will be on foot and stop by some iconic landmarks and eating joints. But that’s not all. You will also have specially curated treats to taste paired with the architecture. Capturing shots of these moments not only tell layered stories of the city but also up your Instagram game!
Architectural Food Tours
Colours, textures, sights , sounds, smells? Multisensory connections are the most impactful memory-makers. Explore the iconic culinary landscape, authentic lifestyle and experience the city from the lens of a food-architect! We launched our first series of winter walks in South Bombay in 2019. This is the perfect gift for anyone who’s new to the city or for city-dwellers who want to experience their hometown differently. We’ve headed to London and San Francisco too.
We carefully study the history, culture, architecture and of course, eating habits, of iconic neighbourhoods. We then plan out and test our routes, and make detailed notes of the prevalent multisensory cues. What makes a vada pav taste better by Bombay’s Victoria Terminus? What do the ringing bells of Southwark Cathedral do to the taste of the food available at London’s Borough Market? Does the smell of the bay make the Dungeness crab taste better at San Francisco’s Fishermen’s Wharf? Join us to find out.
Update: Paris, we’re coming for you!
Our public tours are seasonally listed on Airbnb Experiences. Get in touch to schedule a private walk. If you’d like to host a walk in your city, let us know!
